Took the first two modules.

Passed them.

# Concepts of Information Technology (IT) - 94%
# Using the Computer and Managing Files - 100%

It's all multiple choice questions, right or wrong, or computer-graded simulations. Not difficult tests but I was pleased with my results. In fact, my head of department screamed with joy at the 100%, which was nice.

Double work

Yes ... you guessed it.

Because the system was down most of yesterday, I had to do Double Work to make up today. Two journals to format and put out ...

Oh well. One more day to go and then ... Prague!

Well, a weekend and then Prague.

I want to use my digital camera but I've lost the instruction book ... So I went to the Hewlett Packard site - and there were lots of How Do Is and manuals for the model. So I'm purring happily now ...

And I have a new memory card too ...

And still no work ...

Cos the system is still down!

So ... I shall produce two news digests tomorrow ...

But I've been stuck at my desk on the HOTTEST day of the year waiting for the system (and all the work I need to do online ... sob).

Could have been worse. Could have been in the hot office.

Could have been a LOT worse. I could have been on support ... all our subscribers (all two thousand plus of them) will have been down too. A lot of very unhappy people suck in hot offices ...

It wasn't our system's fault, by the way. It was the cable company we lease out land line from ...

But ... until the system is up - we can't actually TELL people that. Unless they ring up. Amd if they ring up, they want to hear us growvel, not say, "It's not our fault, guv, honest."

Oh I am sooooo glad I'm not in the office today!!!!"

Well, my whole sytem has gone down. Or rather the work end of it has gome down.

That means ... I can't do my daily online digest (which was going well today too) ... and I can't do my web work cos the notes I need are tied up with the system.

I think ... I shall have a nice walk in the garden and some early lunch.

And I did work a nine hour day yesterday so ... I don't mind some slack today.

Tomorrow ...

As I work on my daily online news digest, I have a database consultant coming in to watch me at work. His function is to see if any of the tasks can be speeded up ...

The powers that be think it would mean I could compile the digest in two and a half hours, not four.

I think it would be cool to spend more time researching material ...

We shall see. Life would certainly be nicer if I didn't have to spend a good chunk of it converting GRIFFITHS ANNOUNCES NEW BOOST FOR INNER CITY ENTERPRISE into:
