In Honour of Talk Like a Pirate Day ...

I am listening to pirate songs.

(Or will be shortly - I'm currrently ripping "Rubber Folk" - The Beatle's "Rubber Soul" re-interpreted by leading Bristish folk artists).

But shortly I shall be moving on to Rogue's Gallery - Pirate Ballads.

It's a production by Jonny Depp to celebrate the Pirate films - it's traditional pirate and seafaring songs, with a rather ecclectic line-up - ranging from Jarvis Cocker and Sting to British fo;lk stalwarts like Martin Carthy. Eliza Carthy's "Rolling Sea" is gorgeous. But the unexpected one is the absolutely filthy version of The Good Ship Venus by Loudon Wainwright III. So not safe for work.

(Heh - and suddenly my button for updating my LJ reads "Update Captain's Log" - in honour of the day?)
